TANKER Foundation gave 200 electronic BP machines to Tamil Nadu DGP, Dr. C. Sylendra Babu, IPS, and ADGP, Law and Order, Mr. Thamarai Kannan, IPS, as part of its project to distribute BP machines to all police stations in Tamil Nadu.
The event took place at the DGP office on Radhakrishnan Salai, Chennai, Saturday, September 3, 2022.
DGP Mr. Thamarai Kannan and TANKER Foundation Founder-Trustee, Dr. Georgi Abraham, had mooted the idea of donating BP apparatus to police stations with an aim of taking care of the police force, who are frontline workers. High Blood pressure, not attended to, is one of the main causes for kidney failure. And in keeping with its mission of spreading awareness for prevention of kidney diseases, TANKER Foundation has taken up the project which will be done in a phased manner.
TANKER Foundation will distribute booklets along with the machines for the readings to be recorded and follow up with them, to caution and advise those who are found to be at risk.
DGP Dr Sylendra Babu suggested setting up a dialysis unit at the Police Hospital in Chennai. TANKER Foundation Trustee, Mr. Reji Abraham, who was present on the occasion along with another Trustee, Dr. Sumantran, readily accepted to donate the first dialysis machine for the hospital.
TANKER Foundation would like to place on record the efforts of DGP, Dr. Jayanth Murali, for running three full marathons so far to raise funds for the BP machine project.
