TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team conducted a screening camp for the truck drivers at Tondiarpet Terminal.
Mr. Riyaz Naseer, Safety Officer, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Tondiarpet Terminal, coordinated the programme.
The camp was conducted for three days from Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
On August 23, the TAPP team was led by Mrs. Subbalakshmi Gopalakrishnan; on August 24 by TANKER Foundation Head Admin, Mrs Vasanthi Ravichander; and on August 25, by Mrs. Subbalakshmi Gopalakrishnan again.
On August 23, the team screened 117 people; on August 24, 84 people; and on August 25, 86 people. This included truck drivers, cleaners, canteen staff, security personnel and office staff of IOC.
The TAPP team consisted of Mrs. Ramapriya, Mrs. Deepa, Mr. Venkatesan (Admin), Ms. Priyadarshini (Admin) Mrs. Anitha (ex-TANKER staff and volunteer) and Dr. Sharmila and Dr. Nikita.
People in the high-risk category were referred to Tondiarpet PHC, Government Stanley Hospital and PHCs near their residence.
The importance of follow-up activities was emphasised for everyone who attended the camp, and they were advised to keep fit.
The camp started at 10 am and ended at 4 pm. IOC provided their vehicle for transportation. They also provided the team with breakfast, lunch and tea.
It was a good learning experience for the TAPP team to know about the lifestyle of truck drivers.
