TANKER Foundation staff may be doing it every year, but each year they take back wonderful memories of a day spent together as one BIG team.

The staff outing is a yearly routine for the hardworking staff of TANKER Foundation and they enjoy it by letting down their hair.

The TANKER 31st Staff Day was celebrated Sunday, August 4, 2024, at the GRT Radisson Blu Resort Temple Bay, Mamallapuram.

The staff packed into three buses that were sponsored by Mr. Reji Abraham, Managing Director of ABAN Group of Companies, to reach the venue.

And that is when all the fun began. There was joyous dancing inside the buses to hit numbers from Tamil movies. Claps and whistles were loudest when TANKER Foundation Managing Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, joined the dancers as did Advisory Member, Mrs. Sudha Lakshmi Rao.

On reaching the resort, the day unfolded with prayer songs by Mrs. Sudha Lakshmi Rao, Tirupur unit Senior Manager, Mr. Marteen, Madurai unit Senior Manager, Mr. Samuel, and Valasaravakkam unit Senior Manager, Mr. Abdul Sukur.

Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami welcomed the gathering and gave a brief history of TANKER and its activities. She thanked the management, Advisory Members, volunteers and donors for their continuous support. She called the staff Angels on Earth for working tirelessly and caring for the patients. She requested them to continue to serve the patients with a smile always.

Advisory Member, Mrs. Rohini Menon, threw open the event for the various units to present their performances.

Members of the admin office group, unit staff from Ambattur, Perungudi, Injambakkam, Vyasarpadi, Thiruverkadu, Retteri, Sathyalok, Tirupur, Vellore, Valluvarkottam, Valasaravakkam, Thiruvottiyur, Padi, Madurai and TAPP team vied with one another to present dances, skits, poems and songs which were lapped up by the ‘audience’ who cheered lustily.

The Chinna Kuyil of TANKER Foundation, Mrs. Sudha Lakshmi Rao, rendered a few numbers, to which Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami and a few staff members danced.

Seven gifts were presented to lucky individuals who won the lottery conducted by the management.
Amazon gift card vouchers and some gifts from Mrs. Rohini Menon were distributed to the staff, Advisory Members and volunteers.

The entertainer of the resort, Mr. Ajay, and his team conducted a few games on team-building and gave away gifts for the winning team.

And all the while there were photo sessions with the best being a photo op with TANKER Foundation Founder Trustee, Dr. Georgi Abraham, and all the participants present.

The TANKER family would like to place on record its thanks to Mr. Reji Abraham, Mrs. Nina Reddy, Director of Savera Hotels, Chennai, for hosting the breakfast at their ECR Dhaba’s Karaikudi Restaurant, and GRT Radisson Blu Resort Temple Bay for the welcome tea, sumptuous lunch and evening tea and other arrangements. The travel expenses of the Madurai unit were sponsored by a Rotarian, Mr. Maheswaran of Pioneer Asia, Tiruppur, by Mr. Balasubramanian, a Rotarian, and the Vellore unit owes its thanks to the Vellore Rotary Club.

Sadly, the day got over soon and it was time to say goodbye to old friends and new ones made on a day filled with fun. The staff returned home with the laughter they shared during the day ringing in their ears.
