The TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation conducted a screening camp at Valar Nagar, Madurai, Sunday, June 23, 2024, where 36 members of the general public participated.

The camp that was conducted at the Vinayagar Koil park, was led by Dr. M. Balamurugan. The TAPP team consisted of Madurai Co-ordinator, Mr. V. Alagumalai, who was ably assisted by five nursing student volunteers from Glanis Allied Health Institutions.

The participants had their BMI and blood pressure checked and their capillary blood glucose and urine tested.

The TAPP team found that though most people were taking medicine for BP & sugar, their BP and diabetes were not under control.

Some new cases of high blood pressure and diabetes were also detected.

It was also found that some people had protein and glucose in their urine. Those who required to consult a doctor, were referred to the nearby primary health centre. Dr. Balamurugan gave dietary advice to all the participants.
