A screening camp was conducted by the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation at V.O.C. Street, Pulianthope, at the Nalanda Nursery and Primary School, Saturday, September 28, 2024, organised by Mudirsolai Trust.
The TAPP team, consisting of Mrs. Ramapriya and Mrs. Deepa, was guided by Dr. Sharmila.
TANKER Foundation intern, Ms. Ammu Charumathi, from Soka Ikeda Arts and Science College – Kalli Kuppam, ably assisted the TAPP team.
In all, 41 members of the general public had their BMI and blood pressure checked and their capillary blood glucose and urine tested.
The TAPP team found that most people were taking medicine for BP and diabetes but in most cases, their BP and sugar were not under control. The team also identified some new cases of high blood pressure and diabetes.
It was found that some of the participants had protein and glucose in their urine. Those who required consultation with a doctor were referred to the nearby primary health centre.
Dr. Sharmila made it a point to provide dietary advice to all the participants.
