Forty-two parents were screened by the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation in Madurai.
The screening camp was held Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the Tamil Nadu Technical Training and Paramedical Institute’s Training Hall in B B Kulam.
Dr. M. Balamurugan guided the Madurai Program Coordinator, Mr. V. Alagumalai, in the conduct of the camp. They were ably assisted by four nursing student-volunteers from the Tamil Nadu Technical Training and Paramedical Institute.
The participants had their BMI and blood pressure checked. Their capillary blood glucose and urine was also tested.
The TAPP team found that most people had urine protein and urine glucose. Those with high BMI were advised to control / change their diet.
Some new diabetes cases were also detected and such people were referred to Government Rajaji Hospital and private hospitals for further blood analysis.
