TANKER Foundation’s TANKER Awareness and Prevention program (TAPP) team members, Mrs. Ramapriya and Mrs. Deepa, held an awareness programme July 13, 2024, on kidney health at Blossom Academy, a beauticians training institute at the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (TNUHDB), K.K. Nagar, Chennai, where a beautician course was being conducted.
The session was inaugurated by Mrs. Premalatha of TNUHDB. She was so taken up with the programme that at the end of it, she requested the TAPP team to organise a screening camp for the residents.
And, the screening camp happened Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the LIG Flats Area Scheme Office, K.K. Nagar, Chennai, organised by Mrs. Premalatha.
Dr. Harish Raj guided the TAPP team of Mrs. Ramapriya and Mrs. Deepa. They were ably assisted by volunteer, Mrs. Bhuvana, and intern, Ms. Harini from Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, Perambur.
In all, 40 members of the general public participated in the screening camp.
Many participants were found to be taking medication for blood pressure and diabetes.
Tests were conducted to detect urine protein and glucose among the participants.
Some individuals were newly identified as needing further medical attention and referrals were made to a primary health centre (PHC).
