The awareness and prevention centre that was set up by TANKER Foundation for the benefit the people of Vennikulam, in Kerala, is being relocated at the Thelliyur Public Health Centre (PHC) in Ezhumattor panchayat.
TANKER Foundation Founder-Trustee, Dr. Georgi Abraham, formally handed over charge to the PHC Monday, September 12, 2022.
Chief Medical Officer of the Thelliyur PHC, Dr. Maya, Ezhumattor panchayat president, Mrs. Gigi, panchayat member in charge of health and education, Mrs. Leelamma, and other PHC staff were present on the occasion.
Dr. Maya, a magnanimous person, will run the centre with two other lady doctors. They will do creatinine at Rs. 30 and urine test at Rs. 10.
Dr. Georgi Abraham also handed over Rs. 6,000 to buy two pedestal fans for the centre.
All this comes in the background of the PHC needing help. So, Dr. Georgi Abraham recently wrote to Rev. Fr. Dinesh Parakadavil, requesting to allow the relocation of the awareness and prevention centre from their premises to the PHC.
In a note, Dr. Georgi Abraham and TANKER Foundation Managing-Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, said: “We are grateful to you for your support and we look forward to your continued support and a long-time rewarding relationship.”
They also thanked the church committee members, including senior members of the church, Mr. Thankachan and Mr. K. Luke, for their wholehearted support in facilitating the project.
Thanks were also due to the Diocesan Metropolitan of St. Behanans Church for providing the space initially to run the centre.
