An awareness programme was conducted by the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation in memory of Mrs. Sumitra Ghose, who was a kidney patient on dialysis, on her death anniversary, Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
The TAPP team consisted of TAPP Head, Mrs. Rajalakshmi Ravi, Mrs. Ramapriya and Mrs. Deepa.
Mrs. Rajalakshmi Ravi was accompanied by TANKER Foundation Managing Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, and consultants, Mrs. Nirmala Sivakumar and Mrs. Jayanthi.
The TAPP team was ably assisted by interns, Ms. S. Madhu Metha from D.G. Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam, and Ms. Ammucharumathi from Soka Ikeda Arts and Science College, Madhanan Kuppam.
The programme was held at the office of the conservancy staff at Padi Pudunagar, Chennai. It was attended by 20 conservancy staff.
Mrs. Rajalakshmi Ravi gave a short introduction about Mrs. Sumitra Ghose, a member of the TANKER family, who was a kidney patient on dialysis, mentioning that the programme was held in her memory.
She explained in simple terms how sugar and blood pressure affect the kidneys.
She also mentioned that taking painkillers regularly without a doctor’s prescription can also affect kidney function. She conveyed to the conservancy staff that drinking plenty of water and regular exercise will keep them fit.
Mrs. Sariba, supervisor, conservancy staff of Padi Pudunagar, was very happy that such a facility was offered to her colleagues.
