Members of the Tamilnadu Iron and Steel Association have shown that their heart is in the right place. Moved by the plight of traders and labourers getting infected with Corona virus and losing their lives, they decided to do their bit. Initially, they thought of donating oxygen concentrators but eventually decided that nothing short of a Covid care centre in a hospital would be the ideal solution for society at large, in the time of the pandemic.
The association identified a few donors and asked them to contribute Rs 5 lakhs each. But slowly the momentum picked up and donations started pouring in from the iron and steel business community.
This enabled the Association to set up a Covid care centre first in Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, Chennai, and now at Stanley Hospital, Chennai. The Stanley facility was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Mr. M.K. Stalin, Thursday, May 27, 2021.
It gives us pleasure to note that Mr. Srihari, who was involved in the two projects of the Association, is the brother of our auditor, Mr Srikanth. We salute the initiative.
