SUMMARY:GiveIndia Fundraising Challenge 2022 (February 1 – March 30)
DESCRIPTION:NGO GiveIndia has once again opened up a challenge: GiveIndia Fundraising Challenge 2022\, which will run from February 1 to March 30. \nGiveIndia Fundraising Challenge (GFC) 2022 has been planned to ensure a rewarding fundraising journey for all its partners\, including TANKER Foundation\, enabling us to end our financial year on a high. \nDonations received only on our profile\, project and/or campaigns on fundraisers.giveindia.org during GiveIndia Fundraising Challenge 2022 will be eligible for matching rewards. \nThe purpose of the event is to help NGOs raise money from their existing donor base – active and inactive – and also find new sources of funds. The spirit of the GiveIndia Fundraising Challenge 2022 is in raising new money and not recycling the money that would in any case come to us. \nThe minimum acceptable value for a donation during the Challenge is ₹50. \nThe donation amount on the dashboard against all funds received in currencies apart from INR are indicative. The actual donation amount will be in accordance with the currency exchange rate on the date of the disbursement. \nThe overall winners will be notified on or before April 15\, 2022. All funds received by NGOs from February 1\, 2022\, until March 30\, 2022\, will be considered for determining the winners. \nDisbursement of all donations received during the Challenge will be complete by April 30\, 2022. Disbursement of monetary rewards won during the Challenge will be transferred by May 15\, 2022. \nGiveIndia will introduce multiple weekly booster incentives\, monetary and non-monetary\, to amplify our fundraising potential. \nSuccess Slabs\nThe reward structure for Success Slabs goes like this: If the amount raised (in INR) is 10\,000\, then the matching reward (in INR) would be 1\,400. In case it is Rs. 1 lakh\, the matching reward would be Rs. 15\,000 and this goes up to Rs. 30 lakh\, fetching a matching reward of Rs. 5.25 lakh. \nAll donations made from 12 midnight (IST) February 1\, 2022 to 11:59 PM (IST) March 30\, 2022\, on GiveIndia Fundraisers will be considered for the Challenge. \nIn the Success Slabs\, we will be entitled for the reward in the subsequent slab only once we cross the set target amount. For instance\, we will have to raise a cumulative of Rs. 2.50 lakh or more (fourth slab in the Success Slabs) to win the Rs. 40\,000 reward. \nThe donations can be made in Indian and foreign currencies. \nMega Rewards\nIn the Mega Rewards Challenge\, if we cross INR 50 lakh\, we are eligible for a reward of 9.50 lakh; if we cross INR 1 crore\, 20 lakh\, and if we cross INR 1.5 crore\, it will be 32 lakh. \nAll donations from 12 midnight (IST) February 1\, 2022 to 11:59 PM (IST) March 30\, 2022\, on GiveIndia Fundraisers will be considered for the Challenge. \nAlso\, all donations from 12 midnight (IST) February 1\, 2022\, to 11:59 PM (IST) on February 10\, 2022\, on GiveIndia Fundraisers will be considered for the Success Slab Boosters. \nSuccess Slab Boosters\nSuccess Slab Boosters will provide us an opportunity to win bonus incentives\, in addition to the current rewards in Success Slabs. It is similar to an early bird scheme. We can target completing as many Success Slabs as possible in the first 3\, 5\, 7 and 10 days and avail Booster Rewards as follows: \n3 days (till Feb 3) 30% of Slab Reward \n5 days (till Feb 5) 25% of Slab Reward \n7 days (till Feb 7) 20% of Slab Reward \n10 days (till Feb 10) 10% of Slab Reward \nThese Booster Incentives are fixed and are in addition to the rewards in Success Slabs. For instance\, if we achieve the fourth slab target of Rs. 5 lakh before February 3\, we will be entitled for the Rs. 24\,000 Booster Reward\, taking the cumulative Success Slab reward to ₹1.04 lakh\, instead of Rs. 80\,000. \nLoosen your purse strings and help us reap rich rewards through the GiveIndia Fundraising Challenge 2022. \nContribute here:\nDonate now

SUMMARY:Counting on you
DESCRIPTION:It’s in your hands to make us a hero! Yes. The biggest festival of donations – Daan Utsav – of GiveIndia is back with a bang. \nThe ‘100 Heroes’ festival pulls us up by the bootstraps and makes us look at fundraising with renewed interest. \n\nThe system works like this: The top 100 charities that raise the highest amount will be rewarded by GiveIndia with matching funds.\nThis year\, there are two major categories of fundraisers: Those running Covid-programs and those doing non-Covid programs.\nThe rewards by GiveIndia depend on the funds raised by the NGO from October 2 to November 31.\nFor example\, if an NGO\, doing its bit for Covid relief or rehabilitation of its victims\, raises Rs. 15 lakh in donations\, the matching grant would be 100 per cent up to Rs 15 lakh. For non-Covid programs\, it would be 100 per cent up to Rs. 10 lakh.\nBut for the NGO to qualify for the reward\, it must have a minimum of 15 unique supporters.\nApart from the central reward picking 100 top fundraisers\, there would be mini contests – something for every NGO even if they are not in the top 100.\nThe first mini contest has been announced by GiveIndia. It is called ‘Race to a Lakh’ and runs from October 2 to October 8. Those who succeed in raising Rs. 1 lakh would get a reward of 20 per cent of the amount up to Rs. 50\,000 for Covid programs\, and 20 per cent of the amount up to Rs. 30\,000 for non-Covid programs.\nLend us your hand and help us achieve rewards in this first contest.\nThis is a bonus incentive that would be in addition to the main reward for top 100 fundraisers.\nThere is also the Booster Reward. If the NGO manages to raise Rs. 5 lakh\, it would get Rs. 25\,000 as bonus reward. If the fund reaches Rs. 10 lakh\, the bonus reward would be Rs. 50\,000.\nVarious mini contests\, similar to ‘Race to a Lakh’\, are on the anvil.\nThe time schedule for 100 Heroes is – the contest culminates November 21 and the results would be declared November 30.\nYour kindness can help us win matching rewards from GiveIndia and serve the underprivileged in a better way.\nPlease make your donations from October 2\, 2021\, to make it count for the 100 Heroes festival.

It triggers the bone marrow to produce red blood cells (RBC) which carry oxygen rich blood to the various parts of the body \nWhy do patients undergoing dialysis need EPO injections? \nPatients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) are unable to produce this hormone resulting in anaemia. This can result in tiredness\, breathlessness and potentially cardiac complications. EPO Injections are an essential part of their treatment so that they can maintain a reasonably normal life. \nWhy is TANKER Foundation running a specific campaign for EPO? \nTANKER Foundation\, aided by their donors and Government subsidies offer free dialysis for needy patients who cannot afford the cost of dialysis. At present we have 650 patients in our 11 dialysis units. While Government subsidies cover the cost of dialysis materials and consumables\, they do not cover cost related to EPO injections. It costs us INR Rs.800/- (USD11)) for each patient each month\, out of our funds to provide this. We are seeking your donations to help offset some of this expense. \nHow can you help with this initiative?   \n(http://tankerfoundation.org/donate/donate-new.html) \nPlease use the above link and make whatever donation you feel comfortable with. SUMMARY:World Kidney Day 2021
DESCRIPTION:Being diagnosed with kidney disease can be a huge challenge\, both for the patient and those people around them. Its diagnosis and management\, particularly in advanced stages of kidney disease\, impacts severely upon their lives by reducing their\, and that of family and friends\, ability to participate in everyday activities like work\, travel and socialising whilst causing numerous problematic side effects  – e.g. fatigue\, pain\, depression\, cognitive impairment\, gastrointestinal problems and sleep problems. \nThe current status quo in kidney disease management and treatment aims to prolong longevity by preserving\, restoring or substituting kidney function and delivering relief from kidney failure regardless of the efficacy for overall kidney disease management. This disease-centric approach may be inadequate as it does not satisfactorily reflect patients’ priorities and values. People living with kidney disease tend to\, above all\, want to be able to live well\, maintain their role and social functioning\, whilst maintaining some semblance of normality and a sense of control over their health and wellbeing. The status quo approach also removes patients’ agency as they lack meaningful involvement in the management and treatment of their disease. This in turn leads to patients frequently perceiving treatment as being imposed\, punitive and out of their control. For patients to be more content\, engaged and constructive with regard to their treatment\, and thereby improving clinical outcomes\, they need to feel that their symptoms are effectively managed and to be intrinsically motivated to become active participants in their treatment. Ensuing life participation is equally important for both patients and their care-partners\, as opposed to feeling consumed and constrained by the current approach to treating kidney disease. \nThe World Kidney Day Steering Committee has declared 2021 the year of “Living Well with Kidney Disease”. This has been done in order to both increase education and awareness about effective symptom management and patient empowerment\, with the ultimate goal of encouraging life participation. Whilst effective measures to prevent kidney disease and its progression are important\, patients with kidney disease – including those who depend on dialysis and transplantation – and their care-partners should also feel supported\, especially during pandemics and other challenging periods\, by the concerted efforts of kidney care communities. \nThe World Kidney Day Steering Committee calls for the inclusion of life participation as a key focus in the care of patients with CKD and as a building block towards delivering the ultimate goal of living well with kidney disease. \nMoreover\, \n\nPatients with CKD and their family members or other care-partners should be empowered to achieve the health outcomes and life goals that are meaningful and important to them. This will require patients to understand their role\, to have the necessary knowledge to be able to engage with clinicians in shared decision-making\, as well as developing the skills and support for effective self-management.\nWe further advocate for strengthened partnership with patients in the development\, implementation and evaluation of interventions for practice and policy settings\, that enable patients to live well. This needs to be supported by consistent\, accessible and meaningful communication.\nWe also call for greater emphasis on a strengths-based approach which encompasses strategies to support patient resilience\, harness social connections\, build patient awareness and knowledge\, facilitate access to support\, and establish confidence and control in self-management.\nWe call for more effective and more integrated and holistic symptom management for all patients with kidney disease beyond traditional kidney therapies including effective strategies to identify and manage symptoms that cause suffering including pain\, sleep issues\, anxiety\, depression\, stress\, mobility\, frailty\, and others and ask for more education and management strategies to alleviate these symptoms so that patients and their care-partners can have a better health-related quality of life.\n\nWe must move beyond the status quo and advance patient-centeredness in research\, practice and policy. Patient empowerment\, partnership and improved communications\, combined with a paradigm shift towards a strengths-based approach to care\, can inspire confidence and hope in patients that they can live well with CKD.
