It was a fitting case of giving back to society, as far as Dr. V. Manoharan was concerned. An Agricultural Scientist, Dr. Manoharan said he wished to give back to society and so donated a new dialysis machine through TANKER Foundation.
The machine was inaugurated by Dr. Manoharan who made the donation in memory of his parents, Mr. R. Venkatraya Chettiar and Mrs. Nachiyar Ammal, at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute, Puducherry, Friday, July 2, 2021.
He said he was happy that the machine would be utilised for providing free dialysis for needy patients in Puducherry.
Dr. Georgi Abraham, Founder Trustee, TANKER Foundation, thanked Dr. Manoharan for the donation, and MGM Hospital, Puducherry, for housing the machine and helping the underprivileged with kidney disease. He did not forget to thank the staff of MGM Hospital for their selfless service.
Ms. Latha A. Kumaraswami, Managing-Trustee of TANKER Foundation, gave an update about TANKER and said so far, the Foundation has done more than 4.16 lakh free and subsidised dialyses through its 12 dialysis centres. This was possible due to valuable support from Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme, Greater Chennai Corporation and various Rotary Clubs, Freemasons and other donors, she pointed out.
Dr. Nirmal, Director of MGM Hospital, thanked Dr. Manoharan and TANKER Foundation for the addition of the latest facility.
