TANKER Foundation Managing Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, hoisted the national flag at the Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School, Nungambakkam, Chennai, as the chief guest of the 78th Independence Day celebrations Thursday, August 15, 2024.
Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami, in her speech, spoke about the significance of freedom and the importance of using it responsibly. She also mentioned about her grandmother-in-law, freedom fighter Mrs. S. Manjubashini, who co-founded Balamandir Kamaraj Trust in 1949. She was active in the Freedom Movement and was jailed for a year. She said we have to thank all those who fought for our freedom and gave us their lives for us to be free today.
School principal, Mrs. Vasanthi S, Dean and Director & Correspondent, Mrs. Sheela Rajendra, and Vice-Principal, Mrs. Aasha Pillai, participated in the function.
Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami then honoured them with the TANKER memento, which is a personalised, special, ceramic mug, containing images of TANKER trustees, the Goodwill Ambassador and some patient-beneficiaries.
Later, in a personal message to Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami, Principal, Mrs. Vasanthi, said:
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude for being our chief guest at our school’s Independence Day celebration.
“Your insightful words left a lasting impact on us, reminding us of the significance of freedom and the importance of using it responsibly.
“Thank you for your valuable time.”
