Hello City TV picked TANKER Foundation’s Managing-Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, as one of the recipients of its Virutcham Awards. She was given the award ‘for your active selfless work to the society and mankind’ as mentioned in the shield.
As Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami was not present in Chennai to receive the award, it was accepted on her behalf by TANKER Foundation Head Admin, Mrs. Vasanthi Ravichander, in the presence of TANKER Foundation Founder-Trustee, Dr. Georgi Abraham.
The award consisted of a shawl and a shield. Dr. Georgi Abraham was also called on to the stage and honoured with a shawl.
Mrs. Vasanthi Ravichander, who spoke after receiving the award, gave a brief intro about the good work TANKER Foundation is doing. She said TANKER was helping underprivileged kidney patients in different ways to handle the disease, but its mission was to spread awareness and prevent kidney diseases.
As part of the awareness programme, Mrs. Vasanthi Ravichander pointed out, TANKER Foundation was donating electronic BP machines to all the police stations in Tamil Nadu. This would help the police personnel keep a tab on their blood pressure, which is major contributor to kidney disease.
Mrs. Vasanthi Ravichander mentioned the part being played by senior police officers like DGP Sylendra Babu – who will be taking out a cycling marathon November 13, 2022, to raise funds for the BP apparatus project – and DGP, Dr. Jayanth Murali, for initiating the project.
She thanked the Rotary Clubs profusely for their active involvement in the setting up and running of all the TANKER units.
