At the screening camp held at Ambedkar Street, Ramapuram, Ambattur, by the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation, most people were found to be healthy.
The camp was held Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the Ilankathirgal Social Service Trust venue.
Dr. Sharmila guided the TAPP team members of Mrs. Ramapriya and Mrs. Deepa, who were ably assisted by volunteer, Mr. Premkumar, and intern, Ms. Madhu Metha from D.G Vaishnav College – Arumbakkam.
The BMI and blood pressure was checked and the capillary blood glucose and urine tested for 57 members of the general public.
The TAPP team found that some people were taking medication for blood pressure and diabetes.
It also found that some participants had protein and glucose in their urine. Those requiring consultation with a doctor were referred to the nearby PHC and Rotary Hospital.
Dr. Sharmila gave dietary advice to all the participants.
But the TAPP team was happy to note that most people were healthy.
