A screening camp was conducted by the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation at Erode, organised by the Nagarathar Physicians of North America & International Nagarathar Health Club (INPNA & NHC) and Rotary Club Erode.
The camp, conducted Sunday, November 5, 2023, was held at the Chettinadu Palace, Karur Bye Pass Road, Erode.
TAPP team head, Mrs. Rajalakshmi Ravi, participated in the inauguration function and lit the traditional lamp.
The camp was led by Dr. Jansi Rani, who guided the TAPP team that included Mrs. Ramapriya and Mrs. Deepa.
They were ably assisted by four students of the Dhanvanthri College of Nursing.
The team screened 144 members of the general public who had their BMI and blood pressure checked and their capillary blood glucose and urine tested.
The TAPP team members found that a lot of the people were overweight. Most people already on diabetes medication, do not control their diabetes, the team said.
Among those who were already taking BP tablets, 25 per cent do not control their blood pressure.
Some of the participants diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure were referred to primary health centres and private hospitals.
