A grandmother has left a legacy for a child that will help her in her fight against kidney disease.
It began like this: Mrs. Ganapriya donated to TANKER Foundation the fluids and dressing kit used for peritoneal dialysis for her grandmother. The donor visited the admin office at T. Nagar, Chennai, Wednesday, July 7, 2021, to hand over the kit.
The dressing kit and fluids were collected Friday, July 9, 2021, by the uncle of Prarthana, the recipient child whose life would become a lot simpler with peritoneal dialysis.
Head Administration, Mrs. Vasanthi Ravichander, gratefully accepted the donation by Mrs. Ganapriya and handed over a TANKER memento to her.
What is peritoneal dialysis?: PD, that is, peritoneal dialysis, uses the peritoneum in the kidney patient’s abdomen ‘as the membrane through which fluid and dissolved substances are exchanged with the blood’. It is used to remove toxins in those suffering from kidney failure. This frees the patient to lead a comparatively easy life.
