Dishaa Foundation has generously supported the Retteri TANKER dialysis unit by donating two dialysis machines as part of their CSR initiative.
The two new dialysis machines at Retteri were inaugurated by Mr. Vivek Rajagopalan, Trustee, Dishaa Foundation, at the Corporation UPHC, RCCT TANKER Dialysis Unit, located at Zone – III, Gangaiamman Koil Street, Lakshmipuram, Retteri, Chennai – 600099.
The Retteri dialysis unit is supported by Greater Chennai Corporation, Rotary Club of Chennai Towers, the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS) and many valuable donors.
This generous contribution will significantly benefit underprivileged TANKER patients.
Mr Vivek Rajagopalan said he was deeply appreciative of the work TANKER Foundation does for the needy with kidney failure. The Dishaa Foundation supports education, environmental projects and provides medical support.
TANKER Foundation Managing Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, conveyed TANKER’s heartfelt gratitude to Dishaa Foundation, CMCHIS, GCC, Rotary Clubs, RCCT and other valuable donors for their consistent and generous support.
She said the lifespan of a haemodialysis machine is typically seven years, after which the machine must be replaced, depending on utilisation and operating hours. She highlighted the importance of timely replacement to ensure continued delivery of quality care to patients.
She said kidney failure was on the increase and it was of utmost importance to create awareness and detect it early. She said World Kidney Day, which was observed Thursday, March 13, 2025, emphasised the need to detect early and protect kidney health.
It was important to have regular blood tests and follow all the eight golden rules for kidney care which included a healthy diet, regular exercise, managing blood sugar and BP, proper fluid intake and avoiding self-medication, she said.
