Guided by Dr. Sharmila, the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation conducted a screening camp at Ekkatuthangal, Chennai, Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

The team consisted of Mrs. Ramapriya and Mrs. Deepa, who were ably assisted by interns, Mr. Dilip from Madras School of Social Work, and Ms. Madhuvanthi from D.G. Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam, Chennai.

In all, 72 members of the public were screened at the camp organised by Bharathi Seva Sangam and held at Balaji Apartments in Ekkatuthangal.

The participants had their BMI and blood pressure checked and their capillary blood glucose and urine tested.

The TAPP team found that most of them had high sugar and glucose in urine.

Newly-identified high blood pressure and diabetic cases were referred to the nearby primary health centres.

The doctor also gave dietary advice.
