In all, 79 truck drivers were screened at the screening camp conducted by the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation.
The camp was held at the Tondiarpet Terminal of Indian Oil Corporation Friday, December 23, 2022.
Dr. Nikitha guided the TAPP team represented by Mrs. Ramapriya.
They were ably assisted by volunteer, Mrs. Anitha, and three more student volunteers of ANEW Community College.
The drivers’ BMI and blood pressure were checked. Their capillary blood glucose and urine were also tested.
Most participants were found to have urine protein and urine glucose. Also, most drivers’ BMI was above normal and they were advised diet control and to do physical activities.
Some new diabetes cases were detected. They were referred to the primary health centre and private hospitals.
