In all, 40 members of the general public and staff members of the Madurai Best Old Age Home Nursing Service, Iyer Bungalow, were screened by the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) of TANKER Foundation.
The screening camp was conducted Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Iyer Bungalow in Madurai.
Dr. M. Balamurugan guided the TAPP team that consisted of TAPP Madurai Coordinator, Mr. V. Alagumalai, and three volunteers from the institute, who acted as nursing assistants.
The participants had their BMI and blood pressure checked and their capillary blood glucose and urine tested.
The TAPP team found that most participants had urine protein and urine glucose.
Some new diabetes cases were also detected, and these people were referred to the primary health centre and private hospitals for further investigations.
