The TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation, guided by Dr. M. Balamurugan, and led by Madurai Co-ordinator, Mr. V. Alagumalai, ran a screening camp at Narimedu, Madurai, Saturday, July 13, 2024.
Three nursing students from Glanis Institute of Paramedical Sciences did a good job as volunteers at the camp.
The camp was held at Soil Sons Welfare Foundation, Amman Coffee Bar in Narimedu, and 32 members of the general public benefited from it.
The participants had their BMI and blood pressure checked and their capillary blood glucose and urine tested.
The TAPP team found that most of them had diabetes. Some new high blood pressure and diabetic cases were also spotted during the camp. Such people were referred to the nearby primary health centres.
Dr. Balamurugan gave dietary advice to all the participants.
