It was a time to look at older people for the members of the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation recently.

Led by Dr. Sharmila, the TAPP team of Mrs. Ramapriya and Mrs. Deepa conducted the screening camp Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

The screening was for the inmates of Dignity Foundation’s Shelter Home for Old Age People, Periyampet, Chennai.

Thirtyfive senior citizens had their BMI and BP checked and their capillary blood glucose and urine tested.

Since the people were all aged, most of them had low blood pressure and were underweight. But some were diabetic and had high blood pressure.

As these factors are commonly found in older adults, they were referred to nearby primary health centres and private hospitals.

The TAPP team was ably assisted by Ms. Azhageswari and Ms. Swetha, interns from University of Madras, Chennai.
