The TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation held a screening camp at K.P.R. Mahal, in Tiruvallur, Tuesday, September 19, 2023, for transgenders and members of the general public.

The programme, held at the Vidivelli Transgender Welfare Society, saw the participation of 55 transgenders and members of the general public.

Dr. Harris Raj guided the TAPP team members, Mrs. Ramapriya and Mrs. Deepa. They were ably supported by Ms. Azhageswari and Ms. Swetha, interns from Madras University, and Ms. Jeevarani, an intern from D.G. Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam, Chennai.

The participants had their BMI and blood pressure checked and their capillary blood glucose and urine tested.

It was found that most participants had high BMI. The TAPP team also detected some new hypertension cases. These people were referred to private hospitals and primary health centres.
