The TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation conducted a screening camp at the Thozhi Transgender Trust in Chetput, Chennai, Wednesday, September 20, 2023.

Dr. Harris Raj ably guided the TAPP team that consisted of Mrs. Ramapriya and Mrs. Deepa. They were supported by Ms. Azhageswari and Ms. Swetha, interns from Madras University, and Ms. Jeevarani, an intern from D.G. Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam, in Chennai.

The camp that was held at McNichols Road, in Chetput, saw the participation of 30 transgenders.

They had their BMI and blood pressure checked and their capillary blood glucose and urine tested.

The TAPP team found that most participants had high BMI. Some new diabetes cases were also detected. These people were referred to private hospitals and Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital, Chennai.
