The TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation conducted a screening camp under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme of Tamil Nadu to detect kidney problems among self-help group (SHG) members.
The screening camp was held Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 10 am to 12 noon, at Fatima Nagar, Kalavasal, Madurai.
In all, 48 SHG members were screened at Annai Madha Koil by the team that consisted of Dr. M. Balamurugan and TAPP Madurai Co-ordinator, Mr. V. Alagumalai.
They were ably assisted by volunteers, Mrs. Glory and Mrs. Kanmani, from Shri Pengal Munnetra Sangam, Rayilar Nagar.
The TAPP team conducted various tests like checking the BMI, blood pressure, random blood sugar and urine test on the participants.
Following the tests, it was found that most people have high BMI. Also, new BP and blood sugar cases were detected. Four cases were referred to Government Rajaji Hospital for further treatment.
