Wednesday, March 1, 2023, marked another milestone for TANKER Foundation as a seropositive dialysis unit was inaugurated at the Valluvarkottam unit.
Tamil Nadu Minister for Municipal Administration, Mr. K.N. Nehru, did the honours and declared the unit open, which is the project of Greater Chennai Corporation, Rotary Club of Madras East and TANKER Foundation.
Thousand Lights MLA, Dr. Ezhilan, who initiated and took an active interest in the project, was present along with Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner, Mr. Gagandeep Singh, Additional Commissioner, Mr. Shankarlal Kumavat, CHO, Dr. Jagadeesan, Councillors from Ward 112, Mrs. Elizebeth, from Ward 113, Mrs. Prema Suresh, Dr. Chitra and other officials from the Corporation and Ministry.
From TANKER Foundation, Managing-Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, Head Admin, Mrs. Vasanthi Ravichander, Deputy General Manager, Mrs. S. Geetha, and Advisory Members, Ms. Rohini Menon and Mrs. Sudha Lakshmi Rao, participated in the grand event along with other staff members.
It is to be noted that the Valluvarkottam seropositive unit has five haemodialysis machines.
Another remarkable feature is that TANKER Foundation started the first-of-its-kind-in-India HIV dialysis unit for underprivileged HIV patients in 2009.
