TANKER Foundation Advisory Member, Ms. Rohini Menon, was honoured at a 7-day function in Ernakulam, Kerala, in the presence of Goa Governor, Mr. P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, spiritual leader, Swami Udit Chaitanya, and other dignitaries.
She has been associated with Sukruthum Bagvatham at Ernakulam which is involved in seven projects every year.
Two of these are organising weddings for couples of families that are financially challenged and the other is giving financial aid of Rs. 25,000 to underprivileged pediatric cancer patients.
“I have been doing my bit for these two projects for donations every year,” says Ms. Rohini Menon.
This year, 10 couples were selected and the wedding rituals were performed in the presence of Pundit Rawalji, the chief priest of Badrinath Temple, in Uttarakhand.
Participating in the wedding ceremony Wednesday, December 29, 2022, Ms. Rohini Menon individually presented two gift packs each to all the couples.
She honoured Swami Udit Chaitanya – a Kerala spiritual guru who has dedicated his life to spread ancient teachings of Indian rishis and acharyas, and founded the Bhagavatham Village. Ms. Rohini Menon also honoured other members of Sukruthum Bagvatham.
She used the opportunity to spread the word about TANKER Foundation and then presented the dignitaries with the TANKER memento – which is a personalised, special, ceramic mug with the pictures of a section of TANKER’s patients, its trustees and Goodwill Ambassador. Ms. Rohini Menon explained about how the message is that when we take a sip of coffee or tea from the mug, we should remember that these patients need our support.
Her speech seems to have triggered an interest in Mr. Kummanam Rajasekharan, the ex-Governor of Mizoram, who said he would like to visit TANKER Foundation when he comes to Chennai.
Ms. Rohini Menon also distributed the pamphlets to those assembled there.
