Five new dialysis machines were inaugurated at the Pachaiammal Shanmugam Rotafort TANKER Foundation Dialysis Unit, Rotary Club of Vellore Fort, Sathuvachari, Vellore, Sunday, March 19, 2023.
Four new dialysis machines were donated by Cognizant Foundation and one new machine by the Janakibai Pahalsingh Bajaj Charitable Trust.
Cognizant Foundation, a great supporter of TANKER Foundation through its CSR project, has so far donated more than 25 dialysis machines to all the centres of TANKER Foundation.
The machines were inaugurated by Rotarian Mr. SvRm. Ramanathan, Rotarian, Mrs. Nallamai Ramanathan, Past Inner Wheel Chair Rotary District 3232, Mr. P Kartikeyan, MLA, Vellore constituency, and Mrs. Sujatha Anandakumar, Mayor, Vellore Corporation.
ICICI Foundation donated all the cots for the unit.
The Vellore dialysis centre now has 22 machines whereby 44 patients will benefit every day.
Ms. Reena Elizabeth from Cognizant Foundation, Mr Asif Iqbal and Mr L. Krishna Prasad from ICICI Foundation, and Mr. Sridar Balaraman and Mr. Selwyn from Rotary Club of Vellore Fort, who spearheaded the TANKER RCVF dialysis unit in 2017, were present.
TANKER Foundation Managing-Trustee, Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami, gave an update of TANKER activities and said almost 5.5 lakhs dialysis had been done so far for over 2,500 patients and Rs. 4 crores had been donated to 4,800 people for medication, investigation and surgery costs.
At present 800 patients were benefitting through TANKER’s 14 dialysis units.
Almost 2 lakh people have been reached out through the awareness programmes and 38,000 people had been screened for kidney disease, she said.
