The second day of the kidney screening camp at Varthini Mahal, Rameswaram, Wednesday, October 29, 2025, conducted by the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) of TANKER Foundation, drew 102 participants. The TAPP team was guided by Dr. Raghavan with the assistance of four paramedical staff.

Remarks: The kidney screening camp was organised by Mr. K. Muralidharan, Circle Secretary of the BJP and owner of Varthini Mahal, Rameswaram; Mr. Krishnamani, Representative of Sri Sarada Peetam, Sringeri, Chennai; and Mr. Raman, who is from Daasya Trust and has been associated with the TANKER Foundation for more than 15 years.
The screening test revealed that 25 individuals had blood sugar levels, including 10 newly-identified cases. A total of 30 participants were found to have high blood pressure, of which 18 were newly-identified. In all, 14 participants showed the presence of glucose in their urine.
Based on the findings, 23 high-risk individuals were referred to the nearest primary health centre (PHC) for further medical evaluation and follow-up.
Mrs. Rajalakshmi, Head of Prevention, emphasised among the participants the importance of maintaining blood sugar and blood pressure levels through regular monitoring.
