TANKER Foundation’s Hepatitis positive ward at the Valluvarkottam unit has got the support of Chennai Willingdon Corporate Foundation (CWCF) with two dialysis machines, costing Rs. 14.16 lakhs.
Mr. R. Srikanth, Director of CWCF, and Joint Managing Director, Brakes India Pvt Ltd, inaugurated the two dialysis machines March 28, 2023.
Mr. Srikanth said they were happy to support TANKER again through Chennai Willingdon Corporate Foundation after a gap of 20 years. CWCF supports NGOs in Chennai, working in areas of healthcare, education and social welfare, apart from preservation of heritage in the city.
Ms. Rohini Ramesh of CWCF, and Dr. Chitra, Medical Officer, Corporation Diagnostic Centre, GCC, were present at the inauguration.
TANKER Foundation Managing-Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, gave an update on TANKER’s activities. She said since commencement in 1993, almost 5.5 lakh dialyses have been carried out so far for over 2,500 patients, and Rs. 4 crores provided as assistance to 4,800 people for medication, investigation and surgery costs.
At present, 800 patients were benefitting from TANKER’s 14 dialysis units. Almost 2 lakh people have been reached out to through the awareness programmes, and 38,000 people screened for kidney disease.
Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami was grateful to the TANKER Angels on Earth, as TANKER’s dedicated staff are referred to, CMCHIS, GCC, Rotary, Freemasons, corporate donors, and individual donors.
TANKER is grateful to the media for its support over the years in spreading awareness on TANKER’s activities, she said.
The dialysis machines were inaugurated at the Greater Chennai Corporation RCME TANKER Foundation Dialysis Unit, Chennai Corporation Diagnostic Centre, 1st Floor, No. 97, Kodambakkam High Road, Valluvarkottam, Chennai – 600034.
CWCF’s generous donation will benefit TANKER’s underprivileged patients.
