Dr. Sharmila guided the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation in conducting a screening camp at Mogappair, Chennai, Sunday, February 22, 2026. The TAPP team consisted of Mrs. Ramapriya, Mrs. Deepa and Mrs. Bhuvana, and Area Manager, Mr. Guganathan. Intern, Ms. Kavya from University of Madras, chipped in.

Remarks: A total of 31 individuals were found to have elevated blood sugar levels, and 20 participants had high blood pressure. Among them, 11 individuals were newly-identified with high blood sugar, and nine, were newly-identified with high blood pressure.
Additionally, 11 individuals showed abnormalities in the urine test, and 50 participants were found to have BMI above the normal range.
Based on the screening, 20 high-risk individuals were referred to the nearest primary health centre (PHC) for further medical evaluation.
