Head of TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) of TANKER Foundation, Mrs. Rajalakshmi Ravi, was selected for the Jeppiaar Icon 2024 Award for her stewardship of the awareness programme. The award is presented by the Jeppiaar Group and the event was held at Jeppiaar University.
Mrs. Rajalakshmi Ravi was among the 11 awardees at the function that took place March 23, 2024. She was introduced to the audience as an Angel without Wings.
Speaking on the occasion while graciously accepting the award, which was a memento and a shawl, Mrs. Rajalakshmi Ravi touched upon the service TANKER Foundation renders – low-cost and free dialysis.
She explained that there are generous donations for adding dialysis machines to the various units of TANKER Foundation. But it “pains” that there is need for so many people to undergo dialysis.
So, said Mrs. Rajalakshmi Ravi, after she became an Advisory Member of TANKER Foundation in 2001, she initiated an awareness programme as a preventive measure for controlling kidney diseases in 2005.
The TANKER family salutes the pioneering work of Mrs. Rajalakshmi Ravi in spreading awareness among the public about a disease that cannot be cured, and for her stewardship in conducting screening camps in various parts of Tamil Nadu.
Her humble response is that the award is for the pioneering efforts to raise awareness and prevention of kidney disease and the award is also for TANKER Foundation – the NGO as a whole.
