Dr. B R Nammalwar has more than half-a-century of experience in the field of nephrology, especially paediatric nephrology. An alumnus of Stanley Medical College & Hospital, Chennai, (1962), he is a member of the Indian Society of Nephrology.

His special interest is in managing chronic kidney disease in children, inherited renal tubular disorders and genetic disorders in nephrotic syndrome.

Dr Nammalwar was chosen for the La Renon-TANKER Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and considering his age, the award-winning doctor could not attend the TANKER 28th Annual Charity and Awards Nite that was held January 25, 2021.

So, TANKER Foundation Managing Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, and Head Administration, Mrs. Vasanthi Ravichander, called on Dr Nammalvar Friday, February 5, 2021, at his Chennai residence and handed over the award to him.

The award carries a cash prize, a citation and a medallion.
