CME award for Dr Georgi Abraham
TANKER Foundation Founder-Trustee, Dr Georgi Abraham, was among the distinguished doctors and professors of the medical fraternity who were honoured with the Omnicuris CME Excellence Awards 2021.
Dr Georgi Abraham was presented the CME Excellence Dronacharya Award for ‘Exceptional CME efforts in Nephrology’.
In his acceptance speech, which was delivered online, Dr Georgi Abraham said he started teaching from 1994 in the University of Kuwait and then followed it up with teaching in other countries.
Though he enjoyed teaching, he said, from February 2020, in-person teaching had to be discontinued. But they had hooked on to the digital platform and were reaching out at the local, national, regional and international level. It has been a great platform for one-and-a-half years, he added.
Dr Georgi Abraham said he was humbled by the award and was extremely thankful for the honour.
Earlier, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Ashwin Kumar Choubey, inaugurated the ceremony and gave away the awards.
According to Omnicuris, ‘The award recognizes the significant contributions to medical education made by exceptional medical practitioners and their aim to uplift the educational and professional environment of the medical fraternity. The award also recognises doctors’ indomitable spirit of learning and commitment to Medical Excellence.’

- Best Doctor Award for exemplary contribution in the field of healthcare services, 2012, by Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R. University by Tamil Nadu Governor, Dr. K. Rosaiah.
- First recipient of The International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis Dimitrios G Oreopoulos Award for Lifetime Contributions to Peritoneal Dialysis, October 1, 2012.
- Dr. K.V. Thiruvengadam Award for Health Care for 2013 by Rotary Club of Madras East.
- Rama Varma Award for outstanding contribution in service to patient care and medical education, 2013.

Trustee Malathi Venkatesan awarded
TANKER Foundation Trustee, Mrs. Malathi Venkatesan, was awarded ‘The Shanmukhananda Healthcare Ruby Awards’ at Mumbai, March 23, 2015.
Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts & Sangeetha Sabha, Mumbai, has over the past six decades played a unique role in the national integration and cultural synthesis of India. The sabha is the only institution in the country and possibly in the world that combines Fine Arts and Healthcare. The founders believe that community health has a major role to play in appreciating the finer aspects of art and culture.
The Ruby celebrations (completion of 40 years) were held March 23, 2015, at the sabha’s auditorium with the theme ‘Celebrating Life’. The success of community healthcare revolves around five key players and awards were given to distinguished persons serving humanity through health care in these categories:

- Patient
- NGOs in the field of healthcare
- Public institutions under State’s control who support the goals of ‘Health for All’
