The villagers of Vembedu in Tiruvallur district were especially educated on the negative impact of alcohol consumption on kidneys at the awareness programme conducted by the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation Saturday, October 4, 2025. TAPP Program Co-ordinator, Mrs. Ramapriya, highlighted various issues that affect kidney health.

Remarks: The awareness programme session was handled by Program Co-ordinator, Mrs. Ramapriya, who highlighted the importance of maintaining good kidney health through regular check-ups, balanced diet and physical activity.
During the session, participants were educated about the major causes of kidney disease, particularly uncontrolled diabetes and high blood pressure.
The importance of avoiding self-medication and consulting doctors for proper treatment was strongly emphasised.
Since the programme was held in a rural community, special attention was given to create awareness about the ill-effects of alcohol consumption and its negative impact on overall health, especially kidney function.
The participants showed keen interest and interacted actively throughout the session.
