HCL Foundation and HDFC handed over five dialysis machines each for the new dialysis unit at Ansari Nagar UPHC, Madurai.
Madurai City Municipal Corporation, along with Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai, is providing the required infrastructure, and the equipment was donated by HCL Foundation and HDFC, while TANKER Foundation will manage and operate the dialysis services.
The machines were switched on Thursday, May 14, 2026, by Mrs. Chitra Vijayan IAS, Commissioner, Madurai City Municipal Corporation.
Madurai Assistant City Health Officer, Dr. Abhishek, Chief Medical Officer / City APM, Madurai Corporation, Dr. Sreegothai Chockkalingam, Government Rajaji Hospital Nephrologist, Dr. Balmurugan, and TANKER Foundation, Founder Trustee and Chairman, Dr. Georgi Abraham, and TANKER Foundation Managing Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, participated.
The unit will benefit hundreds of underprivileged patients in and around Madurai by providing much-needed and accessible dialysis care closer to their homes.
Dr. Georgi Abraham conducted an assessment session for eligible chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients and highlighted the importance of early diagnosis, regular dialysis and continuous treatment support for renal patients.
