TANKER Foundation Founder-Trustee, Dr Georgi Abraham presented the oration at Alleppey for late Prof Ramdas Pisharody.
The event took place at the Nephrology Association of Kerala during its annual meeting Saturday, August 27, 2022.
Dr Georgi Abraham inaugurated the Nephrology Association of Kerala conference as chief guest and talked about the role of illustrious Kerala doctors who where key figures in Indian and South Asian nephrology.
He mentioned late Prof. P. Koshy from Karthikappally who started for the first time haemodialysis in India at Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, 1961.
Dr Georgi Abraham highlighted the work of Dr. K.V. Johny from Konni, the team which performed the first successful live kidney transplantation in 1972 at CMC, Vellore.
The roles played by successive generations of Kerala nephrologists in upscaling kidney care and education in all parts of Kerala were brought to light.
