It’s in your hands to make us a hero! Yes. The biggest festival of donations – Daan Utsav – of GiveIndia is back with a bang.

The ‘100 Heroes’ festival pulls us up by the bootstraps and makes us look at fundraising with renewed interest.

• The system works like this: The top 100 charities that raise the highest amount will be rewarded by GiveIndia with matching funds.
• This year, there are two major categories of fundraisers: Those running Covid-programs and those doing non-Covid programs.
• The rewards by GiveIndia depend on the funds raised by the NGO from October 2 to November 31.
• For example, if an NGO, doing its bit for Covid relief or rehabilitation of its victims, raises Rs. 15 lakh in donations, the matching grant would be 100 per cent up to Rs 15 lakh. For non-Covid programs, it would be 100 per cent up to Rs. 10 lakh.
• But for the NGO to qualify for the reward, it must have a minimum of 15 unique supporters.
• Apart from the central reward picking 100 top fundraisers, there would be mini contests – something for every NGO even if they are not in the top 100.
• The first mini contest has been announced by GiveIndia. It is called ‘Race to a Lakh’ and runs from October 2 to October 8. Those who succeed in raising Rs. 1 lakh would get a reward of 20 per cent of the amount up to Rs. 50,000 for Covid programs, and 20 per cent of the amount up to Rs. 30,000 for non-Covid programs.

• This is a bonus incentive that would be in addition to the main reward for top 100 fundraisers.
• There is also the Booster Reward. If the NGO manages to raise Rs. 5 lakh, it would get Rs. 25,000 as bonus reward. If the fund reaches Rs. 10 lakh, the bonus reward would be Rs. 50,000.
• Various mini contests, similar to ‘Race to a Lakh’, are on the anvil.
• The time schedule for 100 Heroes is – the contest culminates November 21 and the results would be declared November 30.
