An intern from D.G. Vaishnav College, Chennai, Mr. Aswath, was instrumental in organising an awareness programme of the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation at NGO V.V. Giridharan Foundation of Nerkundram, Chennai, Tuesday, December 23, 2025, for women learning embroidery there. TAPP team member, Mrs. Deepa, gave an insightful talk on kidney health.

The session was conducted for women attending aari embroidery classes at the V.V. Giridharan Foundation.
The programme began with an introductory address by Mrs. Deepa, who explained the mission and activities of TANKER Foundation, helping the participants understand the importance of kidney health and early prevention.
Mrs. Deepa then delivered an engaging awareness talk on kidney health, highlighting the causes, symptoms, and preventive measures of kidney disease.
She emphasised that poorly-controlled diabetes and high blood pressure are the leading causes of kidney problems and stressed the need for regular health check-ups, early diagnosis, and timely medical management.
She also encouraged the women to adopt healthy lifestyle practices, follow a balanced diet and maintain adequate hydration to prevent kidney-related illnesses.
The session received active participation and keen interest from the women, who appreciated the relevance of the information shared alongside their skill-development training, making the programme both meaningful and impactful.
