TANKER Foundation Managing Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, was on the panel of the British Business Group South that discussed: ‘Diverse Journeys, Common Goals: Women Leading Change’.
The guest speaker of the 140 monthly meeting of the group, held Friday, March 21, 2025, was Mrs. Sumitha Vibhu, a Patent and Trade Mark Lawyer. She spoke on the ‘Opportunities & Challenges for Career Women’, which was followed by the panel discussion.
Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami talked about her grandmother-in-law, Mrs. Manju Bashini, who was a freedom fighter and founded the Balamandir Kamaraj Trust. She was Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami’s main inspiration to take up the cause of helping the needy.
Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami also mentioned the challenges of lack of awareness of kidney disease, leading to its being given less importance and funding. Gradually, with the credibility of the TANKER Foundation growing, many families, friends, individuals and corporates came forward to help TANKER Foundation, she said.
When asked about women breaking barriers, Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami said women should be forthright and take opportunities that come their way. She wanted them to have self-love and self-esteem and not to be affected by people who try to put them down.

At the end of the programme, Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami presented the TANKER memento, which is a personalised, special, ceramic mug, to the other panelists.
