Latha Kumaraswami wins FICCI FLO Social Entrepreneur award, for the NGO category.

TANKER Foundation Managing –Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, was adjudged the winner of the Woman Achiever Award under the Social Entrepreneur (NGO) category, for the prestigious FICCI FLO (FICCI Ladies Organisation) Chennai award 2022-2023.

Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami received the award from Tamil Nadu Finance Minister, Mr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at a colourful ceremony in Chennai.

Before Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami received the award, a short documentary on her work was played at the venue. She was then presented the award by the Minister.

In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami said she was “blessed, humbled and honoured” to receive the award on behalf of TANKER Foundation. She praised the staff of TANKER for the selfless service they do – especially when they laid their lives on the line during the Corona pandemic – as Angels on Earth. She thanked all the donors as also the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme which help underprivileged patients in a big way.

She also had a word of praise and gratitude for TANKER Foundation Founder-Trustee, Dr Georgi Abraham, who attended the function as a guest.

But before wrapping up her short and sweet speech, Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami said she would like to present a memorandum to the Finance Minister requesting him to enhance the amount from CMCHIS, given to TANKER Foundation as reimbursement. For his part, Mr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan accepted the memorandum from her.

Dr. Georgi Abraham presented the Finance Minister his book, ‘My Patients My God’, as a birthday gift as it was his birthday. Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami presented the TANKER memento, a personalised, special, ceramic mug, to Mr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan.

TANKER Foundation Head Admin, Mrs. Vasanthi Ravichander, and Advisory Members, Mrs. Sudha Lakshmi Rao and Ms. Rohini Menon, also attended the function.
