TANKER Foundation’s TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team member, Mr. Hemeshwaran, and Padi dialysis unit Manager, Mrs. Malathi, conducted an awareness programme for the public at the Padi Primary Health Centre, Friday, August 8, 2025.

TAPP team speakers: Mr. Hemeshwaran & Mrs. Malathi
Remarks: Mr. Hemeshwaran spoke on the importance of kidney health and preventive care.
Mrs. Malathi, Manager – Padi dialysis unit, told the people:
1. Monitor regularly: Keep track of blood sugar, blood pressure, and BMI.
2. Have balanced diet: Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and reduce excess salt, sugar and oily foods.
3. Stay hydrated: Drink adequate water (unless restricted by a doctor).
4. Exercise daily: At least 30 minutes of walking, yoga or light physical activity.
5. Avoid self-medication: Do not take painkillers or antibiotics without a doctor’s advice.
6. Quit smoking & alcohol: Both increase kidney damage risk.
7. Adequate sleep & stress management: Helps maintain overall health and kidney function.
8. Regular check-ups: Especially for people with diabetes, hypertension or family history of kidney disease.
