A kidney screening camp was held at Varthini Mahal in Rameswaram by the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Dr. Balraj and four paramedical staff manned the camp with the assistance of the TAPP team.

Remarks: The kidney screening camp was organised by Mr. K. Muralidharan, Circle Secretary of the BJP and owner of Varthini Mahal, Rameswaram; Mr. Krishnamani, Representative of Sri Sarada Peetam, Sringeri, Chennai; and Mr. Raman, who is from Daasya Trust and has been associated with TANKER Foundation for more than 15 years.
The screening tests revealed that 28 individuals had blood sugar levels, including seven newly-identified cases. A total of 26 participants were found to have high blood pressure, of which 15 were newly-identified. Also, 12 participants showed the presence of glucose in their urine.
Based on the findings, 20 high-risk individuals were referred to the nearest primary health centre (PHC) for further medical evaluation and follow-up.
Mrs. Rajalakshmi, TAPP Head, emphasised among the participants the importance of maintaining blood sugar and blood pressure levels through regular monitoring.
