The second issue of IFKF-WKA Connect, the official newsletter of the International Federation of Kidney Foundations – World Kidney Alliance, out April 2021, covers the activities of the various members in different parts of the world. TANKER Foundation’s World Kidney Day 2021 activities form part of it.
IFKF-WKA President, Dr. Siu-Fai Lui, talks of the international survey they conducted on ‘What matters to patients’. Explaining the rationale behind the survey, the President says: “It is important for us to engage the patients and to understand what matters to them – physically, psychologically and with regard to their daily lives.”
The supplement of the newsletter is packed with information. The section ‘Living Well with Kidney Disease’ has two parts, a questionnaire for patient and a patient survey.
The questionnaire is for a ‘self-assessment and a reflection on living well’ and the survey, ‘to assess how our patients are doing with living well’.
Seven members from six countries – including TANKER Foundation in India – participated in the pilot study. The way forward, according to the survey, is a call for action.
