TANKER Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Tuesday, March 10, 2026, with the Madurai Municipal Corporation along with Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital to establish a dialysis unit at Ansari Nagar Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Madurai.
Chief Medical Officer / City APM, Madurai Corporation, Dr. Sreegothai Chockkalingam, and Tamilnad Kidney Research (TANKER) Foundation’s Founder Trustee, Dr. Georgi Abraham, and Co-Founder and Managing Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, exchanged the MoU in the presence of Mr. Palanivel Thiagarajan, Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu.
The MoU marks a significant step toward establishing a new dialysis unit at the UPHC, Ansari Nagar (Old OT Building), Mahaboopalayam, Madurai. The unit is expected to become operational within the next 6 to 8 weeks.
TANKER Foundation Trustee, Dr. Priya Haridas A, was present on the occasion.
Under this collaboration, the Madurai Corporation will provide the required infrastructure and equipment for the unit, along with Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital. TANKER Foundation will operate and manage the dialysis services.
Once operational, the facility is expected to benefit 100s of underprivileged patients in and around Madurai by providing much-needed dialysis care.
On behalf of the Madurai Corporation Commissioner and the Dean of Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital, Dr. Sreegothai Chockkalingam formally received the MoU.
