“They said you can keep the award on the chair but I didn’t feel like it. She took nearly 40 years to come to me. I dedicate this award to myself. I deserve it,” said a beaming actor Revathy, after receiving the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor (Female) in Thiruvananthapuram Saturday, September 24, 2022.
Ms. Revathy won the Best Actor (Female) award, her first one since she began her acting career, from the Kerala film world.
She won the award for her performance in the film ‘Bhoothakalam’, as the disturbed mother of a disturbed son.
The Kerala State Film Awards were announced end of May 2022 and presented September 24.
Ms. Revathy has already won awards – Tamil Nadu state award for ‘Kizhakku Vaasal’, national award for her role in ‘Thevar Magan’, and two other national awards as director.
But an award from Kerala State eluded her for almost four decades. She debuted in Kerala films through legendary director Bharathan’s ‘Kattathe Kilikkoodu’ in 1983.
Receiving the award Saturday, she thanked the jury, the chairman of the Kerala State Chalachithra Academy and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
TANKER Foundation Managing-Trustee, Dr Georgi Abraham, joined the legions of well-wishers who congratulated Revathy.
