Greater Chennai Corporation, Rotary Club of Madras East, in association with Rotary Club of Adana Guney and TANKER Foundation, opened a new dialysis unit Friday, January 20, 2023, at the Urban Primary Health Centre, Vyasarpadi, Chennai.
This is a joint effort of Greater Chennai Corporation, Rotary Club of Madras East and TANKER Foundation. This is TANKER Foundation’s 14th dialysis centre and 8th with Greater Chennai Corporation.
Inaugurating the unit, Mr. K.N. Nehru, Tamil Nadu Minister for Municipal Administration, Urban and Water Supply, said this would benefit the people of Vyasarpadi greatly as dialysis will be totally free.
The Minister promised to help with enhancing the reimbursement package. He thanked all those who worked towards the project.
Chennai Mayor, Ms. Priya Rajan, Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner, Mr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi, IAS, City Health Officer, Dr. Jagadeesan, Member of Parliament, Dr. Kalanidhi, Rotary Club President, Mr. T.V. Rama Kumar, Secretary, Mr. Prabhuram, Ms. Sujatha, Mr. Sudarsan R, and TANKER Foundation Managing-Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, participated.
Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami said TANKER Foundation has done over 5.31 lakh dialysis so far and given donations of over Rs. 3.5 crores as donations. The Vyasarpadi unit would be the 8th dialysis centre done in collaboration with Greater Chennai Corporation.
She thanked all TANKER staff and frontline workers for their selfless service, especially during the Corona pandemic.
The project was initiated in the time of Mr. Srinivasa Roa, immediate past president of the club. Ms. Sowmya and Ms. Radhika played a great part in the completion of the project.
