It was truly a ‘staff day’ with all the staff of TANKER Foundation coming together and letting down their hair at Radisson Blu, Temple Bay, in Mamallapuram, Sunday, August 17, 2025.
This year’s theme for the Staff Day was ‘Team Spirit’ and there was great team spirt on show from the staff members who presented songs and dance numbers in groups.
The ‘Angels on Earth’, as TANKER Foundation Co-Founder and Managing Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, calls the staff of all the units, showed that they have wings for feet when they presented the dance numbers, especially the fast-paced ones.
Many of the dancers had co-ordinated dresses, too. They must have put in extra hours – apart from the regular work they do in the units – to achieve the effect they did on the day in front of a crazily cheering audience.
The Thiruverkadu unit staff members who presented a dance number in coordinated blue pant and T-shirt with showy white gloves to stress their hand movements, concluded their act by displaying boards which read advice on kidney care, and concluded by saying that TANKER Foundation was the best foundation.
Many units presented songs together and the latent talent of the youngsters came to the fore as they were all given equal opportunity to shine. Ms. Renuka from the Sathyalok unit read out a beautiful write-up in chaste Tamil about TANKER Foundation and the work that it was doing.
Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami, in her welcome speech, thanked each and every one of the donors, the Goodwill Ambassador, the staff, including the housekeeping staff, who were part of the singing and dancing teams on Sunday.
She stressed on the unit staff being kind to the patients and urged that they talk to them to relieve them of stress.
TANKER Foundation Founder Trustee, Dr. Georgi Abraham, gave an inspiring speech and showered praise on the staff who keep the foundation running well.
TANKER Foundation Trustee, Mrs. Sudha Lakshmi Rao, belted out a few numbers, some of them Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami’s favourites, and had the audience jump out of their seats and dance with abandon.
The TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team was present in strength. Their head, Mrs. Rajalakshmi Ravi, made good use of the chance of meeting all the unit heads under the same roof and talked about TAPP’s Prevention Through Patient initiative – by which patients are encouraged to organise awareness and screening programmes in their locality.
The TANKER staff also participated in the games organised by Radisson Blu.
Every good thing must come to an end and it was soon time to say goodbye to all the old / new friends. But each one of the participants carried beautiful memories of a Sunday spent joyfully that would keep their batteries charged till they meet again in a year’s time!
