The new haemodialysis machine donated to The Thiruverkadu RCMW TANKER Foundation Dialysis Unit by Kaleesuwari Refinery Pvt. Ltd. was inaugurated by Ms. Meenakshi Ashok of Kaleesuwari Foundation, Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
Speaking after dedicating the machine to the unit, Ms. Meenakshi Ashok said she deeply appreciated the work TANKER was doing for the needy with kidney failure.
It is to be noted with gratitude that her family and their Foundation have been long-term supporters of TANKER Foundation.
TANKER Foundation Managing Trustee, Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, conveyed TANKER’s heartfelt gratitude to Kaleesuwari Refinery Pvt. Ltd., the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS), Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), Rotary Club of Madras West, and other valuable donors for their consistent and generous support.
She explained that the lifespan of a haemodialysis machine typically ranges from 6 to 7 years, after which it must be replaced, depending on utilisation and operating hours.
Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami highlighted the importance of timely replacement to ensure continued delivery of quality care to patients.
She also said they were looking for space to set up a Centre of Excellence for Kidney Disease.
Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami said TANKER Foundation has done 725,534 dialysis and was now helping 890 patients. Awareness programmes have been conducted for over 2.10 lakh people, and screening camps, for 44,621 people for early detection of kidney disease.
She praised the TANKER staff as Angels on Earth who are totally selfless and dedicated to helping the needy.
The generous donation to the Thiruverkadu dialysis unit will benefit all underprivileged patients in and around Thiruverkadu, she pointed out.
